Applying for a Job in France

Call about a job ad, ask about the contract and salary, and land an interview with a French recruiter.

Jobs in France are advertised on France Travail (the public employment service, formerly Pôle emploi), Indeed, LinkedIn and Welcome to the Jungle, and a candidature spontanée to a company you like is perfectly normal. Recruiters expect a one-page CV and often a lettre de motivation; the key contract question is CDI (permanent) versus CDD (fixed-term), and most CDIs start with a période d'essai. Salaries are discussed as a gross annual figure, in thousands of euros brut par an.
