Getting Help at the Pharmacie

Pick up a prescription, ask the pharmacist for advice and understand how and when to take your medicine.

French pharmacies, marked by a green cross, sell almost all medicine over the counter, even paracetamol, and pharmacists give real advice for minor ailments. Hand over your ordonnance and carte Vitale and you usually pay nothing for covered drugs thanks to tiers payant, but only if you accept the generic version; refusing it means paying up front. At night and on Sundays a « pharmacie de garde » is on duty: the address is posted on every pharmacy door, or call 3237.
