Dating and Going Out in France
Talk about dating apps with a friend, set up a first drink and handle the end of the evening the way young French people do.
Dating in France is fairly informal: people meet through friends, at soirées or on apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge or the French-made happn, and young people now say « un date » for a date. A first meeting is usually a drink in a bar or a terrasse, you greet with la bise or a simple « salut », and splitting the bill is common. Among people your age, tu is used straight away.
