Halloween Costumes and Parties with French Friends
Plan a costume, carve a pumpkin and chat at a French Halloween party with friends.
Halloween is a modest affair in France compared with the US: some children go trick-or-treating in their building or street, and adults mostly throw a soirée déguisée (costume party). It falls during the autumn school holidays, so many families are away. Careful with the false friend: a costume is « un déguisement », while « un costume » is a man's suit; with friends everyone uses tu.
