Talking Hobbies and Crafts in France
Chat about what you do in your free time, sign up for a class at the local MJC and talk about selling what you make.
In France a lot of hobbies are run by non-profit associations and by the MJC (maison des jeunes et de la culture), a local centre that offers cheap classes for all ages. You usually pay a yearly membership fee (l'adhésion or la cotisation) on top of the class, and most groups sign people up at the forum des associations in early September. Makers often sell their work at weekend marchés de créateurs.
