Cheering at an Ice Hockey Match in France
Go to a French league ice hockey game with a friend, follow the action and cheer like a local.
Ice hockey is a niche but passionate sport in France: the top league, the Ligue Magnus, has clubs in places like Grenoble, Rouen, Angers and Briançon, with loud, family-friendly crowds. A match has three tiers-temps (periods) of twenty minutes, and a tie goes to prolongation, then a shootout. In France the puck is « le palet » (Quebec says « la rondelle »), tickets are cheap compared with football, and friends at the rink use tu.
