Joining a Club or Association in France
Find an activity at the September associations fair, ask about fees and sign up for the year.
Most French clubs, from choirs to judo, are non-profit « associations loi 1901 », and the season runs from September to June. In early September almost every town holds a « forum des associations » where you can talk to clubs and sign up on the spot. You pay a yearly « cotisation » (membership fee), and the MJC (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture) or the local centre social offers cheap classes for all ages.
