Making Friends at a Paris Party
Introduce yourself, ask the first questions and swap numbers with someone new.
At a party among people your age in France you'll usually say « Salut » and use tu straight away, and you greet each new person, often with la bise or a quick handshake, rather than a general wave. Asking what someone does for work is normal small talk; questions about money or politics come much later. « Enchanté » is the classic reply when someone tells you their name.
