Hiking and Fresh Air in France
Plan a hike, follow the trail markings and talk about the weather like a French walker.
France is criss-crossed by GR long-distance paths, marked with red and white stripes, and shorter local trails with yellow marks. Check Météo-France before you go: storms build fast in the mountains, and in hot dry summers some forests and massifs close to the public because of fire risk. Lighting a fire in or near woods is generally banned, and if you pick mushrooms, many pharmacists will still tell you which ones are safe.
