Taking Your Toddler to a French Paediatrician
Handle a check-up with jabs, a cough and the classic French advice, from the carnet de santé to the saline nose rinse.
In France every child has a carnet de santé, a health booklet you bring to every appointment, where vaccinations, weight and height are recorded. Eleven vaccinations are compulsory for children born since 2018 and are checked before nursery or school entry. Check-ups can be done by a paediatrician, a GP or for free at the local PMI centre, and French doctors almost always recommend a lavage de nez with saline for colds.
