Shooting Stars on a Summer Night
Spot planets, constellations and shooting stars and share a summer night under the French sky.
Every August, French astronomy clubs run the free « Nuits des étoiles » events across the country, timed with the Perseid meteor shower, when people lie in fields to watch « les étoiles filantes ». The darkest skies are in protected areas like the Cévennes and around the Pic du Midi in the Pyrenees, which both hold dark-sky reserve status. Friends out stargazing use tu.
