Heatwaves and Storms: Talking Weather in France
Chat about the heat, the rain and the storms with a friend, and understand weather warnings.
Météo-France publishes a daily vigilance map with four colours: vert, jaune, orange and rouge; orange means dangerous weather such as violent storms, and schools or trains can be affected. Summers bring regular canicules (heatwaves), and late summer and autumn often bring violent orages, especially in the south. Most French homes have volets (shutters) to keep the heat out, and the FR-Alert system can send warnings straight to your phone.
