Playing Chess in Spain
Simple phrases for inviting someone to a game, playing a match and joining a chess club.
Chess is popular in Spain: you'll see boards in bars, outdoor tables in parks and plenty of clubs de ajedrez that welcome beginners on weekday evenings. Players say partida for a game, use the Spanish names of the pieces and say tablas for a draw. The cards follow a casual game in a bar with a new friend and a first visit to a local club.
