Food Shopping in Spain
Queue at the market, buy fruit and cheese by weight, find things in the supermarket and pay.
Many Spaniards still buy fresh food at the neighbourhood mercado, where you ask '¿Quién es el último?' to find your place in the queue and the stallholder asks '¿Qué te pongo?'. At the supermarket deli you take a number, often weigh your own fruit, and pay for bags. The cards follow one Saturday morning shop from the market to the supermarket till.
