On a Building Site in Spain

Safety, tools and daily routine for a new labourer on a Spanish construction site.

To work on a Spanish building site you need the health-and-safety course ('curso de prevención') and usually the 'tarjeta profesional de la construcción'. On site, the 'encargado' runs things, helmets and harnesses are compulsory, work starts early, stops for the mid-morning 'bocadillo' and often ends early in summer heat. These cards follow a new labourer's first day.

Two construction workers stand on a building site under a cloud-filled sky. Sunlight illuminates the scene.
