Negotiating Your Salary in Spain
Ask for the range, understand gross pay and "pagas", talk perks and close a better offer.
Spanish salaries are quoted as gross per year ("bruto anual"), often paid in fourteen instalments ("catorce pagas") with two extra payments in summer and December. Perks like meal vouchers, private health insurance and remote days count as "retribución flexible", and many jobs fall under a sector "convenio". The cards follow an interview at a Barcelona startup and the phone call that seals the offer.
