A Ski Trip in Spain

Useful Spanish sentences for a first day's skiing, from lift passes and rental to the lesson and the slopes.

Spain has serious skiing, from Sierra Nevada above Granada to the Pyrenees, and day trips are common: drive up early with chains in the boot, buy your forfait, rent skis, botas and bastones and book a cursillo. Runs are colour-coded verdes, azules, rojas and negras, and a hot chocolate break is part of the day. These sentences follow a complete beginner's first day in Sierra Nevada with a friend who skis.
